Cedar Bay Veterinary Clinic

Cedar Bay Veterinary Clinic is a conventional/holistic practice in Winter Garden, FL. It is located in a quaint, renovated house which many of our patients find more relaxing. Our friendly knowledgeable staff can assist you in choosing products and answer many of your questions. We pride ourselves on our courteous reception staff. As a small practice, we will get to know you better, and you will see the same doctor at each visit. We treat each animal as an individual. There are no "Package Plans" or standardized treatments. Every animal has his/her own needs and strengths, such as age, living conditions, diet, health, etc. All aspects are taken into account when devising a treatment plan for your pet. We hope that you will stop by to see us and bring your pet along. We always have lots of yummy treats at the front desk for them.

Our Mission

Our mission is to optimize animal health through a combination of good nutrition, conventional medicine, and alternative therapies. We know that you the pet owner are intimately involved in your animal’s health, so we will always take your emotional, financial, and time restrictions into consideration when deciding on a course of treatment. We will do as much as we possibly can to address any problems or diseases, but will not hesitate to refer you to a specialist should we consider that to be in your pet’s best interest.  We take a conservative, what we consider "sensible", approach to medicine.  We feel that treating the root of the problem, in addition to the symptoms, gives the best chance for successful treatment.  Many conventional medicines may give immediate relief of symptoms, but often do not address the underlying disease process.  Combining these medicines with proper diet, exercise, nutritional supplements, and alternative therapies such as acupuncture and animal adjusting, offers your pet optimal health.

    Jan Weiher, VMD, PracticeOwner

Jan Weiher VMD opened the clinic in November of 1999.   It is named after her Chesapeake Bay Retriever “Cedar”.    She and her husband, who is a veterinarian at Disney's Animal Kingdom, live in Clermont with their three dogs, two horses, and two goats.   Her favorite activities are training and showing her dogs in agility, conformation, field, and tracking.

Dr. Jan graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992.  She decided to open the clinic in order to provide the more personalized service that a small practice can offer.   She takes a conservative approach to medicine, and promotes natural diets and supplements to aid in overall health.   She has had intensive training in animal acupuncture through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society.  She also specializes in Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation (VOM) which is similar to chiropractic and Cold Laser Therapy.   Dr. Jan believes that combining conventional with alternative therapies offers the best chance for successful treatment.
